Landing at Santorini Airport: from arrivals to your hotel

Your flight is booked. Now plan the part between landing and reaching your hotel, with a clear pickup arrangement and room for the unexpected.

How do you get from Santorini Airport to your hotel?

Three options to compare are the public bus, a taxi from the airport rank and a private transfer arranged in advance. Choose around your arrival time, luggage and the location of your accommodation.

Public bus

A scheduled connection to Fira. Check the onward journey if your hotel is elsewhere.

Airport taxi

A vehicle from the airport rank. Confirm the destination and fare arrangements before leaving.

Private pickup

A journey planned before you fly, with your passenger, luggage and accommodation details.

The airport confirms that the public bus connects JTR with Fira. Check the KTEL timetable for your travel date, including any onward connection. Leave time after landing to collect bags and reach the stop; a flight arrival time is not the time you will be ready to board a bus.

According to the airport’s official taxi information, the taxi rank is in front of the departures building. Follow current signs or ask airport staff if you need directions.

A private pickup is useful when you want the journey arranged ahead of time, especially with several bags or a group travelling together. Our Santorini Airport transfer page lets you check an estimate and send a reservation request. The team confirms availability, the vehicle and pickup arrangements.

Is there Uber in Santorini?

Yes. You can use the official Uber app in Santorini. Check the ride options shown for your pickup location: the app may offer Comfort and Van services supplied by transport partners, as well as Uber Taxi when available.

  • Check the service and vehicle: Comfort, Van and Uber Taxi are different ride categories. When you select Uber Taxi, Uber matches you with a licensed taxi driver. Read the selected option’s description, passenger capacity and provider details before booking.
  • Pricing: Uber can be more expensive than a regular taxi. Compare the app quote with a taxi fare for the same journey before booking.
  • App booking and payment: Request an available ride option and pay through the app using a supported payment method. Follow the pickup instructions for your confirmed ride.
  • Availability and waiting: Rides are not always available, especially during periods of high demand. Pickup times may also be longer than in larger cities. Check current availability in the app and allow extra time for airport journeys.

Before you fly: send the details that matter

Send the flight number for the flight actually landing in Santorini. If you connect through Athens, for example, use the Athens–Santorini flight number for the airport pickup. Add your scheduled arrival date and local time, plus a phone or WhatsApp number you can use after landing.

Give the exact hotel or villa name, rather than only “Oia” or “Fira.” Include the number of passengers and both large and hand luggage. If you are bringing a pushchair, bulky equipment or need a child seat, explain this before confirmation so the team can check a suitable arrangement.

Save your booking confirmation and meeting instructions on your phone. A screenshot is useful if your mobile connection takes a few minutes to work.

After landing: collect your bags, then follow the meeting instructions

Complete the arrival formalities that apply to your flight and collect your luggage before heading to the agreed meeting point. For a pre-arranged Blue Santorini pickup, follow the instructions in your confirmation. The public taxi rank and a pre-arranged driver’s meeting point may be different.

If you cannot find your driver, stay at the agreed point and contact the number in your confirmation. Describe where you are rather than moving between exits without telling the team.

The airport provides free Wi-Fi through the Fraport-Free network. Follow the welcome page instructions to connect if you need to check your pickup message.

What if your flight or luggage is delayed?

Blue Santorini monitors delayed flights and adjusts the transfer to the updated estimated arrival time. If your airline changes the flight number, rebooks you onto another flight or moves your arrival to a different day, send the new details as soon as you can.

A luggage delay after landing is a separate issue: the flight may show as arrived while you are still inside the terminal. Contact the team if baggage collection or arrival formalities take longer than expected, so the pickup can be coordinated. Refer to your confirmation for the waiting arrangements attached to your booking.

The final part of the journey may be on foot

Some caldera hotels are reached by pedestrian lanes or steps. A vehicle can take you to the accommodation where road access allows, or to the closest practical vehicle-access point. A village name or map pin alone may not identify the right entrance.

Ask your accommodation where vehicles should stop and whether someone can help with luggage from that point. If stairs or walking are difficult for anyone in your party, discuss the exact property and access needs before confirming transport.

For destination-specific planning, see our Santorini Airport to Oia guide. Avoid treating the estimated driving time as the full time from landing to hotel check-in: luggage collection, traffic and the final walk all add to the journey.

Your airport arrival checklist

  • Correct flight number, arrival date and local time.
  • Exact accommodation name and vehicle-access instructions.
  • Passenger count, suitcases, hand luggage and any special requirements.
  • Saved pickup confirmation and a reachable phone or WhatsApp number.
  • A plan for arrival changes, delayed luggage or a late check-in.
  • Confirmation from your hotel about any final walk or luggage assistance.
